Cookie Policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
This policy explains how Daily Cyrillic uses cookies and similar technologies, such as browser storage, when you visit our website and use our app.
2. Overview
Daily Cyrillic uses a small set of cookies and browser storage, grouped as follows:
Essential
Required for sign-in, security and your privacy choices
Functional
Remember your settings and progress on this device
Measurement
Storage-free first-party counts; optional third-party analytics only with consent
3. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to work. They cannot be switched off without breaking core functions such as signing in.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __session, __client_uat, __clerk_* | Clerk | Keep you signed in and secure your session | As set by Clerk |
| dc_authed | Daily Cyrillic | Lets public pages show that you are signed in (display hint only, not used for security) | Up to 7 days |
| gpc | Daily Cyrillic | Records that your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal so that we can honour it | Up to 180 days |
| NEXT_LOCALE | Daily Cyrillic | Remembers the interface language you selected | Browser session |
4. Functional Storage
We use your browser's localStorage and sessionStorage to remember settings and progress on this device:
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| theme | Your light or dark theme preference | Until you clear it |
| dailycyrillic_cookie_consent | Your cookie choice and when you made it. If you are signed in, your choice is also saved with your account so that it applies on your other devices. | 12 months |
| dc_pending_topic | A topic you entered before signing up, so that you can continue with it afterwards | Up to 24 hours |
| dc_*, dc.*, dc-*, pwa-install-dismissed | Dismissed notices, unsaved drafts, first-session progress and offline study on this device | Until you clear it or the browser session ends |
5. Analytics and Measurement
We do not use advertising cookies. Analytics cookies from PostHog are set only after you choose Accept.
Our first-party /api/t endpoint records only aggregated daily counts without cookies, browser storage, visitor identifiers or fingerprinting, independently of your cookie choice. We respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. First-touch attribution is initially held only in page memory; it is not stored on your device. If you sign in during the same page session, we may save it to your account before a choice or after Accept. Essential only stops subsequent account attribution; it does not delete attribution already saved.
Optional third-party Portfolio Analytics and the chat widget load only after you choose Accept, and after interaction or idle time. Portfolio Analytics may store a session identifier in your browser and link events to your account when signed in. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected. Before a choice or with Essential only, these optional scripts stay disabled. You can withdraw consent through Cookie settings; switching to Essential only reloads the page to stop previously loaded optional scripts and subsequent attribution persistence.
Product analytics by PostHog (EU Cloud, Frankfurt, Germany). Without consent, PostHog counts visits anonymously without cookies or browser storage. After Accept, it uses the cookie and storage listed below for analytics linked to your account, masked session replay and product experiments. Withdrawing consent in Cookie settings removes them.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ph_<token>_posthog | PostHog | Anonymous PostHog ID and session state for analytics, session replay and experiments (only after Accept) | 12 months |
| __ph_opt_in_out_<token> | PostHog | Records that you opted in to PostHog analytics (only after Accept) | 12 months or until you withdraw consent |
6. Third-Party Cookies
Clerk, our authentication provider, sets the sign-in cookies listed above and may set further cookies as part of its authentication infrastructure. For details, see the Clerk Privacy Policy.
On checkout and billing pages, the payment form of our payment provider Stripe may set cookies to process payments securely and prevent fraud. For details, see the Stripe Cookie Policy.
We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels or other third-party tracking technologies.
7. Managing Cookies
On your first visit, the banner offers Accept and Essential only. Your choice is stored for 12 months, after which we ask again. You can reopen the banner at any time through Cookie settings in the footer, on this page or in dashboard settings. It shows your current choice without resetting it. Choose Essential only to withdraw consent, or Accept to grant it. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
Browser settings
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in. Instructions for popular browsers:
Browser storage
To clear localStorage and sessionStorage, delete the site data for dailycyrillic.com in your browser settings or in the developer tools (usually under "Application" or "Storage").
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. We will update the "Last updated" date and, if we make significant changes, inform you on the platform.
9. Contact
If you have questions about our use of cookies, please contact us. The full contact details of the controller are set out in our Privacy Policy.
