Weather vocabulary becomes more useful when it helps you decide what to do. Instead of stopping at it is cold, explain what that means for your walk, picnic or meeting time. This lesson connects descriptions of weather with invitations, preferences and an alternative plan. You will practise making a suggestion and responding to someone who wants a different option, so the conversation continues even when the forecast does not match the outing you first imagined.

Describe the conditions you mean

Хо́лодно and жа́рко describe how the weather feels; дождь and снег name precipitation. Compare идёт дождь, it is raining, with бу́дет дождь, there will be rain. The first describes current conditions and the second a future expectation. Practise adding a time word such as сейча́с, за́втра or ве́чером. A weather sentence becomes clearer when your companion knows whether you are looking out of the window or talking about a forecast for another day.

Make an invitation with an answerable choice

Дава́й пойдём гуля́ть suggests going for a walk. Add a place and a time so the other person can accept or propose a change. If you want to compare options, ask В суббо́ту и́ли в воскресе́нье? instead of issuing an open invitation with no details. Practise both roles: suggest a picnic, then respond that you would prefer a café if it rains. This turns weather words into reasons for a choice rather than a disconnected set of adjectives.

Express uncertainty without sounding certain

Ка́жется, бу́дет дождь expresses an expectation, not a guarantee. По прогно́зу introduces information from a forecast. You can say посмо́трим за́втра when you want to decide tomorrow instead. Separating an observation from a guess is helpful in any planning conversation. Use a fictional forecast for practice and give each person different information to compare. The point is to ask what the other person has seen, not to treat a weather sentence in a lesson as a current local prediction.

Agree on an alternative and the next message

Е́сли бу́дет дождь, пойдём в кафе́ gives a simple rain plan. Add who will check the forecast and when you will confirm the meeting. Дава́й спи́шемся у́тром means you will exchange messages in the morning. Rehearse a short chat with an initial suggestion, a weather concern and a final agreement. Then change the concern from rain to heat. Your set will contain flexible planning language you can use repeatedly, rather than one memorised conversation about a single perfect Saturday.

Words and phrases to try

An accent marks the stressed vowel. Transliteration is a reading aid; ё carries its own stress.

Questions about this situation

How do I say it looks like rain?
Ка́жется, бу́дет дождь means it seems there will be rain. If you are referring to a forecast rather than your own impression, begin with По прогно́зу. This distinction helps your companion understand whether you are guessing or quoting information you have checked.
What is the difference between погода and прогноз?
Пого́да is the weather itself, while прогно́з is a forecast. Хороша́я пого́да describes pleasant conditions; прогно́з пого́ды is a weather forecast. Practise asking about tomorrow's forecast separately from describing what you can see outside right now.
How do I suggest changing the day?
Дава́й перенесём на воскресе́нье suggests moving the plan to Sunday. Name the new day and confirm whether the time stays the same. A change of day does not automatically explain all the other details, so a short final summary is useful.
