A museum visit moves between practical questions and personal reactions. At the entrance you need a ticket and directions; in the galleries you might ask what an object is or explain why a painting interests you. This lesson connects those two kinds of conversation. Use the vocabulary to plan a short visit with someone, ask staff one clear question and describe one exhibit without needing specialist knowledge of art history.

Choose the right ticket and exhibition

Вхо́дной биле́т is an admission ticket, but an institution may have separate tickets for a temporary exhibition. Ask Э́та вы́ставка вхо́дит в биле́т? rather than assuming everything is included. Льго́тный биле́т describes a concession ticket; ask which conditions apply before choosing it. These examples teach the questions, not the current policies of any particular museum. Practise one purchase with a date, number of people and a named exhibition so the exchange has a clear purpose.

Find your way without interrupting the visit

Зал is an exhibition room or hall. Где второ́й зал? is more useful when you know the room number than a broad question about where everything is. Ask about гардеро́б if you need the cloakroom or an аудиоги́д if you want recorded commentary. If you are unsure about photography, ask Мо́жно фотографи́ровать? before taking pictures. A short, polite question is easier than trying to infer the rules from what another visitor happens to be doing.

React to an exhibit in your own words

Мне нра́вится э́та карти́на expresses a personal reaction without claiming expertise. Add a visible detail such as colour, light or the face of a figure. Чем напи́сана карти́на? asks about the medium, while Кто а́втор? asks who made it. Read the label with your companion and compare what each of you noticed. The point is to develop a conversation around one object, not to recite every art term on the wall.

Make a small gallery practice task

Choose three images you can view at home. For each, describe one thing you see, ask one question and give one opinion. Change your opinion on the second round so you practise more than a fixed script. During a visit, you can take notes where permitted and build a set from the words you actually encountered. Keep an unfamiliar name exactly as it appears on the label; guessing its spelling makes later review less useful.

Words and phrases to try

An accent marks the stressed vowel. Transliteration is a reading aid; ё carries its own stress.

Questions about this situation

How do I ask whether there is an audio guide?
У вас есть аудиоги́д? asks whether one is available. Follow with На англи́йском? or another language you need. Then check whether it is included or costs extra. Availability and supported languages vary, so the follow-up question matters.
What is the difference between a museum and an exhibition?
Музе́й is the museum itself; вы́ставка is an exhibition. A museum may host several exhibitions as well as its permanent collection. Learn the phrases as destinations: в музе́й for going to a museum and на вы́ставку for going to an exhibition.
How can I discuss art with beginner Russian?
Start with a personal reaction and one concrete detail: Мне нра́вятся цвета́, I like the colours. Ask your companion А тебе́? to invite a reply. A short observation about an actual picture creates more conversation than a long list of specialist nouns.
